Sander Leeuwenburgh (1977) began playing the harpsichord at the age of eight. He studied Materials Science at Delft University of Technology and is now a professor at Radboudumc in Nijmegen, where he leads a research group focused on developing new biomaterials for tissue regeneration. During his doctoral studies at Radboudumc, he also persued piano studies with Frank Peters at the Conservatory of Arnhem, where he graduated with distinction (cum laude) in 2005. He attended masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Frank van der Laar, Igor Roma, Thomas Herrmann, Rian de Waal, Paul Komen, Vitaly Margulis (Freiburg), and Mūza Rubackytė (Paris). His focus during this time was primarily on the late-Romantic Russian repertoire, though he also studies early music with Pieter-Jan Belder and Siebe Henstra. In 2025, he decided to follow his passion for music and returned to the stage as a concert pianist and harpsichordist, with the aim of uniting the worlds of early and modern music.
